The Federal Road Safety Corps has launched an immediate nationwide operation to curb the transportation of petroleum and other inflammable substances in passenger vehicles.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has initiated a comprehensive, immediate nationwide operation to crack down on the illegal transportation of petroleum products and other highly inflammable substances in passenger vehicles. This measure aims to mitigate the risks associated with such dangerous practices, which can lead to catastrophic accidents, fires, and loss of lives.

The FRSC, in collaboration with other relevant agencies, has deployed personnel across key transport corridors, highways, and urban centers to conduct rigorous checks and enforce compliance. The operation will involve inspecting vehicles at checkpoints, heightened patrols, and using surveillance technologies to detect and deter offenders. Any vehicle found violating these regulations will face severe penalties, including fines, vehicle impoundment, and prosecution of offenders.

The Corps emphasized the critical need for public awareness and cooperation to prevent tragedies on the roadways. Citizens are urged to report any suspicious transportation of hazardous materials in passenger vehicles. The FRSC’s move aligns with its broader mandate to ensure safety on Nigerian roads and protect lives and property from preventable accidents involving flammable substances.
